Studio

Led by Dani Hill

A five-person studio in Lakeway. We design complete homes, and we know how they get built, which turns out to be the same skill twice.

Dani Hill and Lauren
The founder

I would rather be honest with you early than agreeable and late.

I started DHill because the best-looking rooms I had worked on were the ones where somebody stayed close enough to protect them. Too much good design gets diluted between the drawing and the finished room, usually by a decision nobody wanted to make in front of the client.

We are women who read construction drawings. That is not a slogan, it is the reason our selections land on time and our details survive contact with a site. It is also why builders tend to call us back.

We take on a small number of projects a year. It is the only way I know to stay close enough to each one to stand behind the result.

What we hold to

01

Clarity before complexity

Make the important decisions early and say them plainly. Most project pain is a decision that was allowed to stay vague.

02

Care all the way through

Stay invested past the presentation. The presentation is the easy part.

03

Beauty that can be built

Design with material, sequence, budget and craft in mind. A detail that cannot be built is not a detail.

04

Trust earns freedom

Listen carefully, align clearly, then lead with confidence. Clients who trust us get our best work.

05

Warmth without pretense

High standards, no theatre. Nobody needs to feel small in their own house.

The studio

Five people, one table. Design, construction knowledge and coordination under one roof, which is why nothing falls through the gap between them.
